Oyster Urban Adventure Race

What the hell is an Oyster Urban Adventure Race?
The race is billed as the “Ultimate Urban Adventure Race” for its uncanny ability to combine pure athleticism with thought-provoking strategy. Your team will run-bike-paddle-climb- and perform other crazy athletic stuff to race around the city, answering clues and completing tasks. This amped, one-day race will have you doing things and in places you never experienced before!

Hosted in Portland, OR my team, The Rescue Rangers, raised over $300 for the Arthritis Foundation and we completed an intense race on foot, bike and use of MAX this morning.

(Kaleena, myself and Rob at the Lone Fir Cemetery - completing our first task - find a specific headstone, take a team photo and return to base for your next mission!!)

(roughly 3hrs and 40min after we started we're done!! Rob and Kaleena enjoying some brew.)

Warrior Dash!!

What the hell is Warrior Dash?
Warrior Dash is the ultimate event for thrill-seeking athletes. This running series is held on some of the nation's most demanding and unique terrain. Participants will conquer extreme obstacles and celebrate their feat with music, beer, warrior helmets and muddy shorts.

Held at Horning's Hideout in North Plains, OR - we completed a brutual 3.15 mile course filled with fire jumping, log rolling, cargo net climbing, junk yard full of cars obstacle, steep hill climbing and much, much more. I'm exhausted. And I can't wait till the next one!! I completed the Dash in 39min 22sec.

Oktoberfest 2010

HEY-O!!!

One of my favorite events to work, Portland's Oktoberfest, was last night. And as a third year event staff member, it was awesome. We had nearly 5,000 people make their way out to the Widmer Brewery throughout the day (my 2:30pm to 11:30pm shift, yikes!!).
Saw my friends, my sister and her boyfriend made it out - all around good day/evening/night.

(Tara, Kourtnie, Emily and me)

(our tent; serving Okto, Pale Ale Drifter, Broken Halo, Hefeweizen)

two more things...

Happy Birthday Katie!! My sister turns 23 today.

(me on the left, Katie on the right and I have no idea what year this was).

And on the anniversary of the largest terrorist attack in America's history, I think of my brother Ben, who's over seas in the heat, the sand, the danger - away from the comfort and security of home. I hope you are safe and know that there are so many people who love you and cannot wait for your safe return home!

Oh! What a tangled web we weave...

Last night Audrey married Graham... they were married by Andrew.
He brought Serena. I assume he brought her so I could see her, and I'm grateful for that, but it broke my heart that she does not remember me or respond to me they way she used to when I was still her Momma.

It was ridiculously casual, 15 friends and family members present. Andrew read from his iPhone "Do you Graham take Audrey as your wife? Do you Audrey take Graham as your husband? As the powers invested in me by the State of Oregon, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." And it was done.

I went for Audrey and Graham. In no way was I prepared or ready to see Andrew, but it's done. I did it and I can keep moving forward. Healing. I try my best not to focus on all the little things that trip me up - why did he have to be the one to marry you two? He doesn't represent anything sacred or honest or loving - he is the man that broke my heart; devastated my soul. The confirmation that Serena and I no longer have that bond was like salt on a wound - but the silver lining? This is the information I need to keep pushing forward.

My girlfriends ask me, "Why aren't you like 'fuck him!'? Why do you cry over someone who disrespected you and didn't appreciate you?"

...? I don't know. Just not my nature, I guess. I've never been a person who feels that 'fuck you' after I'm burned. I just ask 'why'. I want to know why people do what they do - I just want answers.

My best friend got married to the man that she loves with all her heart and he in return loves and adores her. I can't wait for the ceremony on Sept. 10th, 2011 (9/10/11). I feel I made the right decision by attending last night. I would have regretted it otherwise.
